💜 Drift for Mental Health – Sydney South Circuit Recap
Last weekend’s event at Sydney Motorsport Park South Circuit wasn’t just another drift night — it was something much bigger.
This one was all about community, connection, and showing how drifting can be a powerful outlet for mental health and wellbeing.
🧠 What It’s All About
Drift for Mental Health is a community-driven initiative started by a fellow R31 drifter to raise awareness and support for those struggling with mental health issues.
It’s about showing that the drift scene is more than just smoke and noise — it’s a family that looks out for each other, both on and off the track. For a lot of us, getting behind the wheel is more than fun — it’s therapy.
It’s the release after a hard week, the place where we can just focus, reset, and share the passion that keeps us going.
🚗 The Experience
This time, I was lucky enough to take part as a driver, representing Team Unicorn Drifting and helping to bring new people into the experience.
I had the absolute pleasure of taking several passengers for laps — some who had never even been in a drift car before.
The look on their faces after that first corner said it all — fear, adrenaline, laughter, and pure joy.
That’s what it’s all about.
🔧 The Car & The Night
The Unicorn31 gave me a bit of a challenge during the night — we had a few small engine issues that tried to slow us down — but she pushed through and got the job done.
Even with the hiccups, the vibe in the pits and on track was unreal. Everyone there was there for the same reason — to share the love of drifting and support a cause that means something.
💬 Final Thoughts
Events like these remind me why I started all of this in the first place.
It’s not just about the cars — it’s about the people, the conversations, and the community that forms around a shared passion. If even one person leaves a night like that feeling a little lighter, a little more connected, or simply reminded that they’re not alone — then it’s all worth it.
A massive shoutout to everyone who came out, helped make it happen, and keeps pushing this movement forward.
Drifting saves lives — in ways that most people will never understand. -

🛠️ Behind the Build: The Unicorn31 Gets a Serious Upgrade
The 2026 Drift the Dream Tour is creeping up fast — and while the Unicorn31 has already seen a heap of upgrades over the past year, it’s time to focus on the stuff that really matters: reliability, consistency, and longevity.
No crazy new power goals this time.
This round is all about making sure the car can handle every event I throw at it without skipping a beat.
🔧 What’s on the To-Do List
To get the Skyline ready for a full year of seat time and travel, the next few months are all about the fundamentals:
- Pulling the motor and gearbox for a full health check — making sure everything’s still tight and solid after the last few seasons.
- Gearbox rebuild (outsourced to the pros) — I’ll let someone with the right tools and setup get it dialled in properly.
- Installing a full Haltech ECU setup — wired, mounted, and tuned in-house to bring the car into modern reliability territory.
- Upgrading the fuel system to be fully E85-compatible, including lines, filters, and fittings for higher flow and cleaner delivery.
- Replacing worn hoses, wiring, and connectors — anything that looks tired gets swapped. Cheap insurance for a big season ahead.
- Dual caliper rear brakes + standalone hydro handbrake — freshly installed and working perfectly.
- Upgrading the brake master cylinder and booster to R32 GT-ST units for firmer pedal feel and more consistent braking under heat.
- Engine bay cleanup and refresh — while everything’s out, the plan is to strip, paint, and tidy the bay for a clean look and easier maintenance.
🔩 Doing It Right
Most of this work is being done in my own shed — just me, the tools, and a playlist on repeat.
The goal is to keep it as DIY as possible, learning as I go and showing every step through video and photos. It’s easy to get caught chasing shiny mods, but real reliability comes from the small stuff — proper crimps, clean wiring, fresh seals, and keeping everything torqued down right.
🎯 The End Goal
By the time the Unicorn31 fires back up, I’ll have a car that’s ready to travel, ready to drive hard, and ready to last.
With fewer breakdowns and more drive time, I can spend 2026 focusing on the fun stuff — sending it at events, meeting new people, and capturing it all for the channel. In and upcoming post, I will dive into the Haltech install and fuel system upgrade, so keep an eye out for that one — and if you want to follow the full rebuild process, I’ll be uploading behind-the-scenes clips as we go.

Drift the Dream: What’s the Plan for 2026?
It’s official — 2026 is shaping up to be the biggest year yet for Team Unicorn Drifting.
The goal? Simple: take the Unicorn on the road, hit as many grassroots events as possible across Australia, and film the entire journey. This isn’t about trophies or comps — it’s about community, seat time, and sideways stories.
🔧 The Car — “Project Dirty 30”
The R31 Skyline is getting a full refresh over the next few months:
RB30 turbo setup with a new Pulsar 6255G and supporting mods
GKtech angle kit + DGR coilovers for that fast and fluid steering feel
Half cage and bucket setup to handle the long road trips safely
A few visual surprises that’ll make it stand out in the pit lane
Every part of the build is filmed and shared on YouTube, from busted bolts to the first test skids.
🗺️ The Tour Plan
The aim is to travel interstate through 2026, stopping at major drift matsuris and open days including:
Reetsuri (Sydney Motorsport Park)
Queensland Raceway Matsuri
Chilli Jam
Drift Cadet and Drift School events along the way
and maybe even a few secret local track nights
Each stop will feature fresh video content, driver chats, passenger rides, and behind-the-scenes footage for supporters.
🎥 The Mission
The Drift the Dream Tour isn’t just about driving — it’s about sharing the experience.
Through the YouTube series and social media updates, the goal is to capture:The people who make grassroots drifting what it is
The stories from the pits and late-night wrench sessions
The vibe of the Australian drift scene, unfiltered
If you’ve ever wanted to see what it’s like to live life sideways, this is it.
🧢 How You Can Get Involved
I’ve opened up ways for supporters and brands to be part of the journey:
Grab official merch from the shop (tees, stickers, posters — all limited runs)
Jump onboard the Drift the Dream 2026 sponsorship program
Follow the daily updates on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok
Every bit of support helps keep the car fueled, tires spinning, and the story rolling.
🚗 Wrapping It Up
2026 isn’t just another year of drifting — it’s the start of a full-scale road adventure, chasing tracks, filming stories, and bringing people along for the ride.
So buckle up, because the Unicorn’s heading out to Drift the Dream.
